During this
two-day workshop, one of a series of four foundational modules on archetypal
astrology, we will explore the place of the planetary archetype Pluto in
human life. The universal principle of depth, power, and transformation, Pluto
manifests in the elemental force of nature, ever destroying and creating,
ensuring that life is always dying to the old and being born to the new,
symbolized by the alchemical Uroborus, the
tail-eating serpent or dragon, consuming itself in the perpetual cycle of
instinctual life. In Jungian psychology, Pluto is associated with the dark
power repressed into the shadow that finds expression in our drives,
obsessions, and compulsions. It is connected, too, with Dionysian passion,
demonic possession,
shamanic dismemberment, and the binding grip of fate, imposing
on us a calling and pulling us inexorably into our depths for rebirth and
transformation. Using film
clips, music, and text, the lecture presentation by Keiron Le Grice will draw
on a range of examples from the arts, philosophy, and psychology to help you
recognize and understand Pluto’s role in your own life. Over the weekend, you
will learn the fundamental techniques and principles needed to work with
astrology for yourself mediated through a close engagement with your own
chart. There will also be opportunities for group discussion and informal
conversation with instructors and classmates. Other workshops in this series
focus on Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.
We hope you can join us! See
schedule and further details at the bottom of the page. Keiron Le Grice,
ITAS director and faculty, is a professor of depth psychology and
archetypal cosmology, and chair of the Jungian and Archetypal Studies
specialization at Pacifica Graduate Institute, Jay Dufrechou,
J.D., Ph.D., is the author of Moving through
Grief, Reconnecting with Nature. He worked for many years as an attorney
before undertaking doctoral studies at the Institute of Transpersonal
Psychology (ITP), now |
