During this two-day workshop, aimed at both relative beginners and more experienced astrologers, we will explore the use of the signs of the zodiac and houses within astrology. In combination with an understanding of the planetary archetypes and the aspects between the planets, signs and houses can be used to gain important insights into the patterns and potentials of one’s life, revealing a deeper life meaning and order working through us. This seminar will focus especially on how signs and houses might be incorporated into archetypal astrology.

Lecture presentations by Keiron Le Grice will introduce the basic architecture of the chart—angles, quadrants, elements, signs, and houses—and then address key topics, such as the archetypal basis of signs and houses in number and geometry, the question of causation, the phenomenon of the precession of the equinoxes, and the merits of and problems with different house systems. Each afternoon, we will consider interpretations of the meaning of planets in the signs and houses, with reference to our own charts, as we will learn the fundamental techniques and principles needed to work with astrology. There will be ample opportunities for group discussion and informal conversation with instructors and classmates. Other workshops in this series focus on Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, and transits and progressions.  We hope you can join us!

Keiron Le Grice, ITAS director and faculty, is a professor of depth psychology and archetypal cosmology, and chair of the Jungian and Archetypal Studies specialization at Pacifica Graduate Institute, Santa Barbara, where he teaches courses on archetypes, individuation, alchemy, synchronicity, and the history of depth psychology.
